Ways To Bring Your Garden Into Your Home
If you're a gardening enthusiast, you may have been toying with ideas as to how to bring your love for the great outdoors inside.
However, it's hard to think of ways to do this in a way to suit everyone's taste. If your partner isn't into their gardening as much as you, they might be sceptical of the idea. But with these tips, you can convince them...
We've put together a guide to bring the outside in...
Conservatory
With large windows and open plan living, a conservatory is the easiest room in which to create a nature theme.
Use natural fibres such as rattan for your furniture, as these combine comfort, durability and quality.
Bring a garden bench inside to make an outdoors themed feature. Decorated with coloured cushions, these will look natural and be comfortable next to your windows when guests visit. Something like this Teak Banana Bench would be brilliant in a conservatory as it's big enough to sit comfortably on while the high back is supportive and able to be seen above your cushions.
Plants are the easiest way to add nature to a room, so be creative with how you present them. Team different styles and colours on ledges, windowsills and put hanging baskets indoors. Just remember to water them outdoors to avoid a puddle in the corner of your room.
Introduce wooden items around the room, such as wooden ornaments, vases, planters and furniture.
Natural wood floors look great in a nature-themed home and are easy to care for, plus you can place planters and furniture made to be outside, inside without ruining carpets.
Install a wood burner. Yes, you can install wood burners in your conservatory easily as a cost effective way to heat the room during the colder months. You can read more about installing wood burners in conservatories here.
Kitchen
A country style kitchen is the perfect start to creating a nature-filled kitchen. With wooden units and vintage stylings, you're already half way there.
Adding a large wooden table into your kitchen is an easy way to add some nature. This Paris Teak Garden Table would look great both indoors and out with its dense hardwood and solid stacking chairs.
If you already have a kitchen table, the Teak Lazy Susan can be a fantastic addition to add an outdoor feel to a rained off BBQ or gathering.
Don't be afraid of adding plants and flowers to every spare corner. Whether you hang them, place them in vases, metal buckets, planters or pots, any plants look great in a kitchen.
Grow your own herbs and have them on display in pretty pots. Either place them on the windowsills so that they get enough sun or if you can, attach small planters to the walls for a stacked plant effect.
Go for green accessories. Even if you don't want a full green colour scheme, inject green into your kitchen with cutlery, plates, utensils and pans.
Living Room
The living room is probably the most difficult room to encompass a garden feel without going too far.
An old wooden ladder can be the perfect accompaniment to most furniture once it has been treated with a teak finish. Sit it in the corner of your room with potted succulents, flowers, vases and decorations on each step.
Different styles of vases in glass, ceramic and colour can be used to add a pop of brightness to a basic room, filled with dried twigs, greenery and flowers.
Glass bottles can be up-cycled to create beautiful hanging decorations alongside wind chimes and fairy lights.
Create a feature wall using a green based, floral or tree printed wallpaper, as this will encapsulate nature in a way that suits everyone's style.
